- Neck Joints -
Like other parts of the instrument, the neck joint is constructed
and glued in a way that allows it to break before other more "tradgic"
damage like breaking the neck occurs. There are some different ways
to handle the repair depending on how it breaks, budget, and the value
of the instrument. But it's not as bad as it seems. Sometimes the
repairs can be done by cleaning and regluing the break, even if the
whole heel didn't break out (see below). I was able to reinforce this
repair by installing a dowel.
Depending on circumstances, or if the instrument is of little value, it
may be better to reinstall the neck with a bolt.
